Tibetan Six Word Chant
Ong Ma Lee Bae Mae Hong
Namaste friends
This is the transformative Buddhist chant I was introduced to by my teacher, Master Chunyi Lin. Each word when chanted, sung or repeated silently is healing. Actually healing is too vague a descriptor- the vibration of the sounds transmute every aspect of your being. The most deeply profound and ethereal experiences of my life have occurred while chanting these sounds in unison with fellow qigong practitioners.
The meaning is:
"Open your heart. Go back to the universe. In the Oneness you will find the truth of yourself."
I usually have my mala beads with me and often use this mantra to bring presence and alignment to my mind. I slowly or rapidly repeat the powerful words aloud or internally 108 times- once with every bead.
The following is from the springforestqigong.com website where you can find a wonderful CD to accompany you in your practice or simply play in your space to bless the area.
The Six Word Chant for Healing, Wisdom, Purity, and Enlightenment.
The Six Word Chant is an ancient Buddhist healing chant. The six words are "Ong, Ma, Lee, Bae, Mae, Hong."
Ong
"Ong" relates to the heart of wisdom. This is the wisdom of the universe. The "Ong" sound can help with problems in the eyes, the ears, the nose, and with all kinds of headaches and head problems.
Ma Lee
"Ma Lee" relates to a person's heart, which is full of changes. "Ma, Lee" can help with problems in the throat, shoulders, elbows, heart, and lungs.
Bae Mae
"Bae Mae" relates to the purity of the heart, the emptiness. "Bae, Mae" can help with problems in the spine, back, kidneys, stomach, and intestines.
Hong
"Hong" relates to the enlightenment of a person with the wisdom of the universe or with the power of God. "Hong" can help heal problems in the joints of the body and the legs.
The six words together in combination can help to balance the energy throughout the body and help connect you to the healing energy of the Universe.
I encourage you to give this a try. It is a great way to release anxious thoughts, stress, worry and the like. Teach it to the children in your world, sing it to your pets, repeat it before bed, sing out loud in the shower! Above all, have fun! With a smile on your face, joy in your heart and a mantra on your lips you will be a new happier version of YOU!
love & blessings,
rhonda
